Tie rod ends and front end work

My '02 is one of the very early ones, it went into service in October of 2001 I believe (hence the cracked 6th bore liner), so I will have to go out and check with a wrench or my calipers. Interesting note about my TrailBlazer. It was used for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. It was a...

Tie rod ends and front end work

Guys, It's been a while since I've been on here, and since I did any work to my TrailBlazer. I know that most of my front end components are very worn, so I'm replacing most everything. Not surprising given I have an '02 with 197K miles. I've ordered Moog UCA's, ACDelco professional upper ball...

Most Undervalued Aspect of your GMT???

Well, I have to admit that I'm about to leave the club. My TrailBlazer will soon be up for sale. I bought a 2008 Acadia. I needed more space for the family, and as much as I've loved it, I can't stand the too tall, too narrow for it's length look of the EXT. Driving the Acadia is a TOTALLY...

    City economy very low

I'm afraid that could be it. I know it's not awful, because I still have really good top end power. I'll have to see if there's a muffler shop that can do a back pressure test. Last time I looked at it, I could only get a small peek at the core and what I saw looked okay.

Keeping revs down - a good thing?

Man, I drive the heck out of mine at times. 95% of the time, I try to keep my acceleration constant and reasonable. I never look at the tach to keep it below a certain number. Recently, I was towing a pop-up trailer up an 8% grade. I had good speed (70 or so), but got caught behind a truck...

    City economy very low

Oh, I failed to mention that I did replace the plugs (Delco Iridium 41-103) 5K miles ago, along with my thermostat and air filter. The thermostat was opening early, so I thought that might have been it. It made no difference.

    City economy very low

Hi everyone, My 02 with 182K miles on it has had a gradual, but overall dramatic decrease in city fuel economy over the past year or so. The type of driving we have done hasn't changed in any dramatic way, and my driving for economy has definitely stepped up after seeing the decrease, but still...

rattle/clanking noise at engine shut down

If it's like mine, it's the fan clutch. Because it's loosely coupled, it will continue to spin for a second or two. One test (how I found out it was mine), is when the fan isn't running fast, carefully stop it by putting pressure on the side of it with a cloth. Then have someone shut off the...

High Temp.Gauge has turned into other problems.

They may have cracked the insulator on one of the spark plugs (the back two are really easy to do) doing the valve cover gasket. Do you have a check engine light? It should pick up a misfire quickly.

    Timing Cover Gasket

I did mine a couple months ago. I replaced my thermostat and noticed that it was weeping just a little bit. It's tight, but it is possible to remove it without too much difficulty. Because the gasket is silicone and seats nicely into a groove in the cover, it will stay in place as you put it...

Most Undervalued Aspect of your GMT???

I love the comfort. When I got married, my wife hated that I drove an SUV. She had the common misconception about SUV drivers. She now loves it. Each year we drive from Utah to Texas to visit her family. I love that drive. There's just something about the balance of comfort, yet not so...

    Which ODBII transmission temp

After letting my vehicle get nice and fully warm, I added all temp sensors, engine coolant, transmission fluid, and transmission oil. I then slowly ran cold water across the transmission cooler (remember I disconnected the transmission cooler), and found that the sensor that responded was...

Extra Tranny cooler not sufficient - what next ?

I bought this fan Amazon.com: PROCOMP 7" INCH ELECTRIC AUTO COOLING FAN 12 VOLT CURVED BLADE: Automotive to put on my Hayden cooler (looks very much like yours). Just barely fits in every dimension - height, width, and depth. Moves a respectable amount of air. I added a Hayden adjustable...

    Which ODBII transmission temp

Thanks everyone. I don't see anything beyond the description, but If there is an engine oil sensor, it would make sense. I did have things backwards - What is listed as Transmission FLUID temp is higher of the two. Even with my fan blowing 100% in 85 degree weather yesterday I had an...

    Which ODBII transmission temp

I don't know the size of the cooler for sure, but I believe is is 18K. I know the two sensors are different from my engine temp as that is listed separately and is a different value than these two. I wish I knew which one to trust. I would have hoped it would be the fluid as it is the lower...
