Came out with around 650$ bill. That's inclusive of a thermostat or so change for resolving another issue I had (temp. gauge & AC compressor both were not working at the same time; intermittent problem). Ok, so my first major repair / expense at 139,000km.

Just an update. Took the envoy to the dealer y'day. They checked & their report is the booster is faulty. They will change the booster plus the master cylinder. Car is at the dealer. Expected bill of around 500$ :cry:

And how much would that cost approximately?

The brake servo looks like a reasonable explanation. Normally, at the dealer do you think they would do any part repair to the booster or would they just replace the whole unit. What kind of cost is involved here? I really hope my brakes don't get jammed when I'm on the highway!!

I don't think the brake fluid has ever been flushed, unless it's part of the regular services at the dealer. All my services are done at the dealer. The last "major" service was done at 100,000km. It is now 139,000km. The abs did come into action last week during a hard braking on the highway...

The 2 issues are definitely related. It's not that these 2 issues are there always....they happen once in a while. And when they occur, they occur together.

I finally got the Bridgestone Dueler HP Sport. Love the ride. Very quiet & comfortable ride. Haven't tried out sharp cornering or hard braking....waiting to break in a little more. Handling is pretty responsive.

GT seems to be a new model, it replaces UHP. What I've noticed here is that for any particular size, you get only one model per tire brand. I guess there is just one main dealer for a brand who supplies to all shops. I've never used a General tire and would like to try it out. What do you say...
