I have the same sound and it's definitely not sais. I really think it's the power steering pump. Mine has been doing this for a year or two. Oh does it when it's maybe 40 degrees Fahrenheit or colder. Maybe a sign to replace power steering pump soon?

I think removing the entire system is a fantastic idea! I am on my 3rd pump failure and have replaced the solenoid 3 times as well. The whole system is poorly designed and unnecessary! I am going to get my pcm tuned and have them remove the code. If I leave the solenoid attached but...

I installed a set in August of 2010 and they still look and work perfectly. I think I have about 25k miles on them so far. I'm very happy with them.
