    Replace front diff?

TJ knows more about Envoy PIDs than the engineers in Detroit! I've had mine out, it's not the worst job I've ever had to do. If the steering rack is already out it becomes easier. If you're doing the rack do the two steel lines from the pump that go to it that rust out at the top of the strut...

    Insulation on underside of hood

Mine looks like that and I'm not spending any $$ on it.

    2005 Envoy Transmission connector Pinout?

Yep, no drag racing and no towing but I'm thinking the 4L65E in the Escalade will need a refresh in the next year or so and this way the vehicle can keep running while I spend a few weekends in the garage working on the trans. I'd like to get proficient enough that I could start on a Saturday...

    2005 Envoy Transmission connector Pinout?

Interesting! So I may have to swap the front bell to get this 4L60E from the 4.2litre LL8 to work behind the V8.

    2005 Envoy Transmission connector Pinout?

Thanks Mooseman Luckily, my 2006 Escalade has RPO code M32 which is listed as: 4L60E HD Which is what they called 4l65Es at the beginning. (The 4L80E was RPO code MT1) So it's the same case and will physically fit but I wanted to know if the electronics are the same. Thanks for the links...

    2005 Envoy Transmission connector Pinout?

Can anyone post this up? I don't have my full Envoy OEM manuals anymore and I want to compare the pinout of the transmission from a 2005 Envoy to a 2006 Escalade. I know the Escalade has 5 pinion plantetary gears and some beefed up parts but I want to know if I could temporarily put the Envoy's...

TB EXT LT 2006 4.2 Engine Starter Motor Power Rating

Do you have a "Clamp ON" dc ammeter? You could clamp onto the big red wire to the starter and crank the engine a few times to get a reading. Then slip the belt off and do it again and see if there is a big difference in the amount of current. The trouble with current tests and voltage drop...

TB EXT LT 2006 4.2 Engine Starter Motor Power Rating

No, batteries don't work that way. You need to factor in Time. The 1.7 starter will rotate under load for a longer time than the 2.0 on the same battery. Most car batteries are around 100 Amp Hours. At 13.2 volts a 2.0kW starter should draw 151 amps. On a 100Amp hour battery it should...

    P0135

So both are 40 to 250 ohms but one is reversed to the other? Technically, that's easy for the engineers in Detroit, they just re-write a few lines of code. If that's the case then my fuel gauge should just run backwards. I think I'll drive it for a week and see if it comes off empty and rises...

    P0135

I did another test this morning. I pulled C1 (Blue) and measured between pin 8 (Low Reference) and Pin 22 (Fuel Level Sensor Signal - Primary) I measure 40 ohms. Since this is not zero or infinite I can rule out a short or open in the wiring harness no? So let's say it's correct. I swapped...

    P0135

A little googling and it would appear that the PCM connections are the same for a 2003 and a 2005. The power comes from C1-22 to the sending resistor and then back to the PCM at pin Cq-8 which is a low reference (gnd). I've also seen a diagram that says the 2003 has a 40 ohm sensor but I...

    P0135

So today I swapped the PCM, installing the 2003 that came with the engine when I bought it from the wrecker. It's been running on the 2005 PCM for years without trouble. I did the 30 minute relearn and then the crank shaft variance relearn. All is well. So my O2 sensor problem seems to be...

    Crimping new trans cooler lines

OK, always good to ask if someone has already tried something but if not I'll be happy to be the first to see if it will work. Both transmission lines from Rock Auto with taxes and shipping are $218.11Cdn. If I can fix them for a few dollars worth of line and four ferrules I can buy myself a...

    Crimping new trans cooler lines

This guy on YouTube is using the Mastercool type crimper to make hydraulic hoses. If he can get it to hold at those pressures I'm thinking that I can repair power steering lines with mine.
