Does it do it with the belt off? Mine had that noise and it was the ps pump. A lot of people get it out of the idler or tensioner. A number of things could make that noise though and I wouldnt think the belt itself would unless it was wanna those gator back deals.

I was thinking mine was cracked too but when inspecting I noticed that the head had popped off the furthest one back next to the firewall. So I figured there was enough sticking out to get a vise grip on it. Went to remove the bolts with the loosen an tighten method, and a bunch were loose...

I agree with sparky. I put destination at on the wifes escape almost 4 years ago, 35k later there is no sign of wear and they still look new. When the tb needs shoes I'll more than likely go that route again.

If you have a KOI automotive paint store, or something similar you just give them the code and they mix a rattle can for ya. Like $20 or something. I used it on one of my co workers cars. Turned out great. Also google it, there is a couple web store that specialize in that.

Yes you should change the oil along with all the other fluids (diffs, transfer case, coolant) just so you know whats in there..... I had a little oil above the threads on my plugs as well. As long as your not soaked on the firing pin you should be fine. But, think about re-torquing the valve...
