    Saab 9-7x rusty hood repair

It is part number 89044602 and was $330.06 on their site when I bought it. I do not see it listed anymore so you may have to contact them for availability. It was a perfect fit!

    Saab 9-7x rusty hood repair

Like many of you in the Northern climates I must deal with rust and I HATE it! My 2009 9-7X has the rusted hood problem. A couple of years ago I ground out the rust, made repairs from fiberglass and painted it. It held up for a while, but I knew it wouldn’t last. I had been looking for a...

Exhaust Manifold Replacement - question on pipe to manifold removal

Thanks for the information. Last time I did it I bought new bolts from the local hardware store but used the same size as the stock ones. This time I bought new ones from Dorman and they are 35mm in length. I noticed they were longer so I tested them to make sure they didn't bottom out. They...

Exhaust Manifold Replacement - question on pipe to manifold removal

So 2 years and 50000 miles later the manifold cracked again. This time it split completely in half. Thankfully last time I did it I used anti-seize on exerything and soaked all the bolts with Kroil before I started. I managed to get it done in 3 hours this time. When I put the manifold...

What are you towing with yours ????

I am having the same problem on my 97X but right now it is limited to the paint bubbling. I am planning to sand the hood down, treat with POR15, paint and then do a small band of Plasti Dip. I am going to treat it from both sides. I doubt it will stop it from returning, but it will buy me time.

What are you towing with yours ????

The trailer is about 4,200 empty. I bet it is close to 5,000-5,100 when I tow. I never use the OD when towing and the Saab has the 3.73 gears. As long as the terrian doesn't get too hilly it is fine. The hills do stress it out but I live in the flat midwest so not too much of an issue.

Exhaust Manifold Replacement - question on pipe to manifold removal

I had one broken bolt but was able to get it out. There was more room to work on it than I expected. I probably wasted 1 hour on the exhaust pipe removal, that was the hardest part for me. It was a bit of a pain but I have worked on much worse. The crack was way larger that on my 04, I...

Exhaust Manifold Replacement - question on pipe to manifold removal

Here is the "Bad Manifold", clean head and the completed project. All in I have 6 hours into the project and I am sure I could have done it faster but I was trying not to break anything. The one picture of the manifold to pipe connection was taken from inside the wheel well. This made it...

Exhaust Manifold Replacement - question on pipe to manifold removal

It is out!!! I ended up taking the front wheel off and going in by the tire. I got one from below and the other two from the top. Time to put the new manifold back it. Soon to be quite again.

Exhaust Manifold Replacement - question on pipe to manifold removal

I am replacing the exhaust manifold on my 09 97x with the 4.2. I had this done on my 04 Trailblazer a long time ago but decided to tackle it myself this time. I purchased a Dorman manifold which has all the hardware and seems to be a quality part. So far I have had great success. I removed...

How to Replace Outer Tie Rods

Here is how the tie rod looks prior to tightening. I forgot to take a picture after it was all tight. Here is what the original one looked like prior to removal. The new one has about the same amount of threads showing after installation and tightening. Reinstall the tire, lower the car...

How to Replace Outer Tie Rods

Step 5 Now you need to slide the tie rod into the spindle. You will need to wiggle the spindle some for it to pop into place. My manual said the nut should be tightened to 33 foot pounds. You need to make sure the tie rod is all the way into the spindle and use caution to ensure the tie rod...
