FYI -- UAW expanding strike to include parts / distribution divisions (GM, Stellantis)

In negotiations, you always ask for more than you expect to get. In the case of the UAW, the union made significant concessions back in 2007-2009, during the 'great recession', etc. Those concessions included (but were not limited to): - pay cuts (not 40%, but the union has already come down...

FYI -- UAW expanding strike to include parts / distribution divisions (GM, Stellantis)

As an aside, I didn't post this to indicate a position on 'pro' vs. 'anti' union, as that's getting close to discussion we (supposedly) consider 'off-limits'. It was intended only to give a heads-up to those who might be looking for OEM parts in the next few weeks. That being said, we're...

FYI -- UAW expanding strike to include parts / distribution divisions (GM, Stellantis)

FYI -- as of noon today, UAW is reported to be expanding their strike to the OEM parts / distribution divisions of GM and Stellantis (talks continue between UAW / FoMoCo.) Meaning: If you know you'll have need of a hard to get OEM part, it may get harder to find one in the next few weeks...

SOLVED! Alternator not charging-not the alternator

I think you're right. Although, as I said... I really can't see a difference from the outside. Am going to slice through it and if anything interesting, post a pic. AFAIK, it's the original one (so, 20MY old) According to what I saw yesterday, the OEM is an 8ga wire; it can be replaced with...

SOLVED! Alternator not charging-not the alternator

Success! (surprised me; I didn't think this was going to work) :woohoo: That little 11" cable (fusible link) between alternator stud and the red battery box was the culprit. Put the new one in, and voila! (that was for you, Moose... sorry, no diacritical :) Dash gage showed +14V charging...

SOLVED! Alternator not charging-not the alternator

Still futzing around with this, and I now know it ain't the battery, either. AGM was hooked up, and while the in-dash ammeter showed improvement, it was still nowhere near 12V, and I still have the 'battery not charging' message, battery light, etc. AGM SoC was at 12.12V; plenty enough to...

SOLVED! Alternator not charging-not the alternator

New update: Got the trailer ready to go last night, and went and extended my stay this morning (bought myself a little time). Also found out that there should be sites available in other areas, if I wanted to keep the trailer there a few more days (my house is getting a new roof starting...

Found a 2002 Envoy 4x4. 58K miles with G80 and GT5 differential. Worth the upgrade from my current Envoy?

Coming in late here, but my preference in your situation would be to keep the vehicle I knew the history of and knew to be reliable, from your description. I actually did the research on adding tow/haul to my 5.3 Envoy w/ 3.73s. It has an E59 PCM, so it's relatively child's play to activate...

    SUPPORT How to delete account

Not going to beg you to stick around; if you think 'the other site' is better for you, good luck finding anything current there, as most of their userbase is now... here. :grouphug: I will, however, point out that there is an 'ignore' feature, and I do use it with a couple of profiles on the...

SOLVED! Alternator not charging-not the alternator

No... the new one I bought 14mos ago was a 220A -- which should be 'HO enough'. (FYI) Update: Swapped out the alternator to the old reman (Delco) that I swapped out for the 220A that 'failed'. Bad news -- I have the same issue, and am now 'in trouble', as I have my camper 22 miles away...

SOLVED! Alternator not charging-not the alternator

Put in a new HO alternator in the Sierra about a year ago, not long after I upgraded to dual e-fans. Since then, I replaced the fan harness (the 'new' new one is fine), and up until today, my charging system was fine. Today, I started the truck, had the (bus) issue where the radio doesn't...

    Canada banning WD40/Brakeclean/etc...

Holy crap. What are garages / shops supposed to do, for brake cleaner? California bans the red can, but still allows the non-chlorinated (green can) to be sold there (for now, at least). I'm guessing (?) the chlorinated liquid (comes in gallon jugs) will still be available in Canada. You...

    SOLVED! Brake issue

(mods: FYI -- again, I didn't receive an external notification from the site on Mooseman's mention of me in post # 2) OP: I see you're working with a Hydroboost system. They're not my favorite, because they run off the P/S pump, and when they go out, you lose power braking *and* power...

temp raise after 15 min drive with AC on, but go back if i turn off AC

A garden hose with a good high-pressure setting on the nozzle will flush out the condenser. Shouldn't need soap. If you don't have access to a garden hose, take the vehicle to a self-service car wash, and put the selector on 'rinse'. That should provide a good pressure stream to remove the...

temp raise after 15 min drive with AC on, but go back if i turn off AC

Just a quick note to answer your question about conventional antifreeze vs. Dexcool... You're basically OK with either, from a temperature management standpoint, but you CANNOT mix them together. To switch over, you MUST completely empty the cooling system (including the engine block) before...
