2012 XL Denali, one night I went to turn on my overhead map light, I pressed the light/switch and the light did not come on but it dimmed my instrument cluster lights. Press again still off but IC lights returned to normal.

This happens when trying to turn on any overhead map light, including 2nd row... but with the doors open, all the map lights will turn on as they should. When the lights are on with the doors open, if you press the map light it will turn off.

I replaced the headlight/dome light switch but same issue. I wouldn't suspe t a bad ground at G200/G201 as the lights do work with the doors open

Also, this is a web pic, but you can see how all the steering wheel buttons illuminate a light blue/green, now I only have the two center inside lights illuminate, cruise control in red circle and the right side is the phone button...both inside middle buttons..any help is greatly appreciated.

Were the map lights replaced with LEDs? I know in the GMT360 they cause a funky issue similar to yours but only affect the map lights (turning on map is dim until you flip the visor to turn on the mirror lights and it becomes bright). I believe it's something to do with the BCM because the maps and mirrors are controlled by the BCM if they are left on, they will eventually turn off.

For the steering button lights, those are likely burnt bulbs or possibly those were also replaced by LEDs and affecting the others?

None of the interior lights were replaced with leds, and those other steering wheel lights all went out at the same time.

However.. about 2 months before that, I replaced my headlights and fog lights with LED's from VLeds.

I doubt those would affect the interior lights as they are isolated from the BCM by relays.

A broken wire in the steering or the clockspring? Check the schematics and check the wires going into the steering column.

Other than that, I have no idea what could be causing your issue.
