    Oil consumption report

I thought this thread was for the 5.3 V8 so here is my input. 159500 miles on my 07 Denali. Was using a quart of 5w30 every 2k miles depending how I drove it. I disabled the DOD by unpluging the brake booster and I got 3800 before I added a quart. Getting 18 -18.5 mpg which is about 1-2 mpg less...

How many miles have you got on your GMT

07 Denali purchased new in 07. Now have 159,460 miles, $26,652 in fuel, oil, filters, tires batteries and repairs, still has the original brakes. Hard to beat $.17 per mile. The 14 Buick E sits in the garage most of the time as we both would rather drive the Envoy.

    07 Denali

For 154,376 miles used 7,655 gal of fuel = 20.17 mpg. Total cost of fuel $23,011.70 for 154,376 miles. $23,011/ 7655 gal = $3.01 average cost per gal. I think the fuel cost is around 90% of total. My figures are a little different today because I just filled the tank. Dave

    07 Denali

coolasice, It would take me a little effort to break out the fuel cost from the total. I don't record the total cost of ownership as I don't consider it part of the operating expenses. If I were depreciating the car or writing off the car on business expenses I would but that is not the case...

How to disable AFM/DOD at no cost

I would like to try this method but cannot figure out how to separate the connector at the booster. Also I am wondering which wire would be controlling the DOD. Might consider spicing in a simple open close switch. Dave

How to disable AFM/DOD at no cost

My 07 Denali has it and I never knew it was working until about 100k when it started using oil. 1qt /3000 miles. I can also feel it in the 4 cyl mode @ 30 mph on light throttle but its not bothersome to me. The oil use is only at high speeds and hills. If we just use the car around town I don,t...

    07 Denali

For anyone who is interested, I have to brag on my 07 Envoy Denali that was purchased new in 07, now has 154,099 miles and although it has been retired to my wife's casual use we fight over who gets to use it most of the time. I have logged all the maintenance and operating costs which includes...

    Still a keeper

[sharedmedia=core:attachments:68155] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:68155] Didn't know where to post this topic. Purchased this Envoy new in 07 and after 154,099 miles I still like it better than my 14 Enclave. It is now my wife's daily driver. Envoy stats: 154,099 miles, Operating costs...

miles per gallon with the v8

My 07 Denali running 18-19 mpg now at 141k in mixed driving. When it was new I could pull 22 on the interstates @ 70 mph. I'm going to miss this car when I have to give it up.

    Disable DOD

Has anyone disabled the DOD on their 5.3 engine. I have 130k on my 07 Denali and it runs great and gets 21.5 -22 on trips. 18 -19 around town but I can tell its in 4 cyl mode at about 30mph under slight load. I hate that 4 cyl feel. I would like to run all 8 for awhile to see the mileage...

    GM is now REIMBURSING $$

I had my fuel level sensor replaced in 2011 on the 1/2 off deal so when I ran across this thread I stopped by my dealer (GMC) and inquired about the reimbursement. He looked it up, gave me a copy of the letter which I took to another dealer (Chev)that did the replacement for me and left it with...

    5.3 Tranny pan removal

Thanks for the reply. I decided to have the dealer change out the fluid and filter. I decided I am too old to mess with it. Last time I tried to change trans fluid was on a 92 S10 Blazer, removed all the bolts dropped the pan down at an angle and drained most of the fluid then found I could not...
