It's been a whlie... Hi guys and gals.
Just recently had both o2 sensors replaced. CE light on again.
Codes P0014, Exhause CPT-overadvanced; Had CPS changed a few years ago.
P0130, O2 sensor Circuit bank 1 sensor 1 INTERMITTENT; P0133, O2 curcuit slow response Bank 1 Sensor 1 INTERMITTENT

I run Mobil 1 full synthetic 165000 miles

runs smooth for a bit and then roughly, fuel mileage is the pits, 11-12 at best.
Any Ideas?

Also there is a clicking noise that I hear when I change air flow A/C, Heat, floor, vent, defrost. Is there a sensor or need to replace the actuators? 6 1/2 hours labor to change the actuators cuz I gotta drop the whole dash. (UGH)

With what brand? Time to change it again, unless you have too few oil changes and the screens are clogged up.

With a decent scan tool, you can observe the rate of change (up/down) of the O2 sensor and confirm its slow response. And if you take it out yourself, you can see if the mechanic did indeed change it, or lie to you. Are you in any way a DIY'er?

Bad O2 sensor could do that, as could a bad CPAS.

Also there is a clicking noise that I hear when I change air flow A/C, Heat, floor, vent, defrost. Is there a sensor or need to replace the actuators? 6 1/2 hours labor to change the actuators cuz I gotta drop the whole dash. (UGH)

Sensors don't click. Bad actuators do. There are five actuators, and usually it's just the airflow mode one (not the two temp actuators, defrost, or recirculate). People have changed the airflow mode unit without a full dash disassembly. Is this the same mechanic who might have put in the wrong O2 sensor?

Bosch O2 sensor and also changed oil sensor with Bosch. My front seal is leaking and the gauge was going nuts. A friend changed them. His brother has the same car and works on his all the time.
CSP changed by ASE Cert mechanic several years ago. Has his own shop and is trusted by most county employees.
Oil changed in November and refilled last month. Without looking about 2000 miles give or take.

I try to be a DIY'er when I can. I would do the actuators, but not sure what I'd run into. Don['t know enough about them. Any Video or pics would be of help to me.

Bosch is the kind of O2 sensor that throws a heater code. Not a sluggish output voltage sort of code. Recommend chancing the upstream sensor to a Delco, assuming you don't have access t a scan tool to see how sluggish the output voltage really is.

Run a search for "mode actuator" and there will be a lot of discussion, some of the threads have pictures. We especially discussed it on trailvoy, which we all support visiting to have access to the archives, although the ownership sucks donkey balls.

Thanks for the diag. I'm in for the try. Not sure I can spring for changing the 02 Sensor to Delco. I try to go OEM, not sure why they picked up the Bosch. What's the best way to reset the codes? Advanced doesn't have the right scanner. I'm wondering if that's why the codes for the 02 sensor are still there?

Just buy your own, on sale, Craigslist, or Harbor Freight. EVERY group of buddies/neighbors should have ONE guy with a good scanner. And the ones without all buy him beer to rent it. You could be that guy. :wootwoot:

If you have an Android phone, and get the torque app, and this dongle, it may help with codes.

I will certainly do that. Gotta another question... Is the filter minder, plastic round gauge coming off the air filter intake necessary? Mine is broken and to replace is 33-40 bucks. Can I just plug the hole? Thanks again for all your help. Ill let you know how things go.

No. Not a cable. Torque works with a bluetooth Dongle. Check the various threads we have here discussing it, plus their web site.

Actually, get Torque Pro. It's well worth paying for such a useful product.

My android won't work with this one. Doesn't work with 4.0 and above. Any others you are aware of? I don't have bluetooth in my car.

The obdII dongle emits the bluetooth connectivity to laptop or phone.

TorquePro. Has a picture of a check engine light with "obd"and "check".

There may be a few knockoffs around. Get the real TorquePro. It works just fine with an Galaxy S4.

I have that same dongle and it works just fine with android 4.2.2.

Actually mine was working with android 4.4.2 now that I think of it.

It should be noted that even after the actuator(s) are repaired, you will still hear a click when you cycle to a mode that involves defrost. The A/C automatically turns on whenever defrost is any part of the output mode, so you'll hear a click when going into floor/defrost or defrost, and (maybe) a click coming out of either mode. Shouldn't hear it with vent, etc. though.
