Hey guys,

I bought this truck a couple years ago and it has never been able to switch from floor to overhead in the rear. Now its doing the clicking and only blowing cold air. I pulled the 30 amp fuse it sems to be the same. Would this mean it needs both actuators? And does the 3rd row pass side need to be removed before reoving panel?

Thanks Rob

the roadie posted a pic of the rear panel which showed the actuators etc.the panel does need to be removed to access everything.do you have hot coolant going to and from those rear lines on your truck?

whoops that should of read does the 3rd row seat need to be removed to remove the side panel?

 You can lay the right seat down.

Yes I am aware the seats lay down-I was asking if they need to be removed for the side panel to be removed. Also the pipe is hot going back-so does these symptoms point to needing both actuators replaced? Thanks Rob

Yep, I know what you were asking. The seat does not need to come out, just lay it down, and you can remove the panel. It may be easier if you remove the C and D pillar covers, since they overlap that panel slightly. You'd need a T-50 torx bit to remove the seat belt bolts. When you get access, you can use the controls in the 2nd row to command the actuators. Your descriptions sound like they are bad to me.

It can't be a huge hardship even if they do, is it? Just start the project, and discover how to do it and what additional tools you need to buy as you go along, is my motto. The more adventure, the better! :wootwoot:

Yes, but people with less experience mechanically (like me) do not like getting in over their heads. It is easier to know exactly what you are getting into, and then you will still have enough adventure (in my case anyway!).

I received 2 new actuators thru amazon $47 each-is there a procedure in the installation of these?power fuse under seat pulled?all I have been able to find is make sure actuator is in place before plugging harness in. Thx Rob

UPDATE!! this was a 4 song repair-it took longerto let the truck warm up to see if it was blower hear again-So in the first time in 3 years of owning this the top vents now work! Thanks for the help esp Roadie!!

Found out last night that I have the same issue. It worked prior so something must have recently happened. Blowing cold air through the top vents.

Any chance I could get the part # of what you purchased off Amazon?

I have a question. I ordered my replacement actuator on amazon will be here on Friday for me to work on over the weekend. Now how should I set the actuator to be in the correct position so it does not break again. When I took it apart the star gear I think is all the way to the left which might be closed position. Should i plug in the actuator to the wiring and if so what should I set the temp settings or manually set the actuator. I have not been able to find on the site about a "home" setting so I do not break it right away. Thanks

Don't move the actuator before installation. Make the axle to the flap door coming out of the HVAC plenum housing match the actuator. Install it. When you reconnect the battery, and turn on the ignition, the first 90 seconds or so (during which you can't touch any buttons or knobs) is a recalibration time. That lets the control module rediscover the end points of the door movement.
