Burning wire smell coming from the bottom of Driver's seat

I thought it was a bad wire to one of my lights yesterday, however today even with all my lights disconnected from the battery it continued to smell!
I was able to find the general source of the problem. So far I have removed the driver's seat and it is sitting in the garage until I can really inspect all of the wires on the bottom of the seat. Anyone else ever had a similar issue before? Any ideas of what it might be? Any help is greatly appreciated!

nope, I have just the standard power adjustment seat, cloth seats...

Sorry that's the only problem I've had with my seats. I guess the best you could hope for is to check all the wires and maybe get a picture of someone's seat harness plugged in.

That area has a good amount of wires , to be thorough you can pull up your door sill and the center console to reveal a few more

Yeah, I've had the door sil off and gotten into the center console.. still cant pin point it. I think I am going to try putting my seat back in the truck tomorrow, I febreezed it and it seems better, same with the truck. I'm just not going to connect my seat to the wiring harness. If there is no smoke smell... problem found and "solved" lol. I gave the bottom of the seat a good swift kick, reminding it who's boss. :P

Are you positive it's coming from the seat? The most common burnt smell on these vehicles has got to be the blower resister. Are all the speeds working on the A/C? Not that it matters, even mine worked on all speeds when the resistor was shorting/burning.

Another common source for burnt smell in these vehicles (from what I have read on the OS anyway), is the DDCM (Drivers Door Control Module). I have heard horror stories of smoke coming from the door.

Just my :twocents: Good luck tracking the smell down.

AC works great. doesnt work on 5 though... that quit working about a year ago.
The area where I have been able to smell the smoke smell the most comes from the bottom of the drivers seat. I put the seat back in today, and did not reconnect the cables... which in return left me without a drivers side airbag. However the smell did not return! it's crazy!

Check the air horn too. Between the CB and air horn being right next to your seat, it could be bad wiring on one of those.

Checked the air horn and it's fine. By the way.. I want to compare loudness on yours vs mine seeing how we have different speakers.
