Hi everyone,

I am heading down to the Bronx to check out an 05 Trailblazer LT. Fully loaded with only 77,000 miles.

Since it is a 160 drive, I have to be on my game for the test drive and check out. Beside the normal stuff, is there anything else I need to pay special attention to with the Trailblazer?

It has a clean Carfax and had 3 previous owners. The Carfax said it was sold at an auction when it had 58,000 miles. Is that something that should send up red flags? Why would a vehicle with such low mileage go through an auction?

Thanks in advance for the input everyone! Have a great evening and stay warm!

Take it for a good drive to get it hot and see if it gets up to the proper temp of needle straight up at 210 degrees. If check engine light is on, swing by a parts store and get it read or if you have your own scanner grab the code.

It could have been a recovered stolen vehicle (Bronx :undecided:) and auctioned off by the insurance co.

Or, it could have been a dealer trade in.

Or the owner defaulted on their loan, and it got repossessed...

I read on one web page that the 05 Trailblazers were the highest in problems/repairs... Not sure how true it is but I wanted to add that my 06 with 144 k runs smooth and uses no oil.

Check the codes in glove box and make sure it matches your wants/needs.

Look fro rust under hood edge and at lower door seams.

If you can, jack up front and check for any looseness of components.

Hi everyone,

I am heading down to the Bronx to check out an 05 Trailblazer LT. Fully loaded with only 77,000 miles.

My GF and I are looking to add a Envoy Denali as a second vehicle, we recently looked at one with similar miles, an 08.

At a glance, it seemed very clean and nice. Looking closer, it had been heavily detailed by the dealer. There was buffing compound in some of the cracks of the body panels. The inner fenderwell liner was missing all the push pins on both sides, which led me to look at the pinstripe, which sure enough, didn't quite match.

Looking underneath, it was all crusty and rusty and obviously not cared for. My 200k Trailblazer looks way nicer underneath.

Someone bought the thing, and drove it. That was it, they just drove the wheels off it, then whammed into something and traded it in.

So my only real advice is to do your due diligence, because Carfax only shows reported accidents. If someone chooses to roll it into their garage and fix it, Carfax has no way of knowing that.
