I have a light front end clunk that occurs randomly while driving in a straight line. The clunk is not more apparent when turning the wheel, going over bumps or curbs. There is no noticeable whine and this light clunk does not follow vehicle speed or happen all the time. It is not affected by braking. It is very random and seems to be coming from the center / passenger side. Sometimes it so light I can barely hear it, sometimes a little louder and I can actually feel it in the wheel. Still pretty minor in nature, but the clunks are starting to happen more regularly. It happens a couple times a minute now.

Before I bring the trunk in for diagnosis (so I don't start throwing parts at it), please school me on the possibilities or something I might be missing. Is this something I can diagnose in the driveway on stands? I am mechanically inclined, but do not want to disassemble without having replacement parts on hand.

Thank you.

Go under the truck and grab hold of the anti-sway bar end links and shake. Listen for the clunking noise. Do the same for sway bar mounting brackets and tie rod ends. This needs to be either on the ground or on ramps. Not with the wheels hanging down.

While under there, go ahead and grab the right (passenger side) front CV axle near the inside CV joint, and give it a good shake. It shouldn't move much.
