Does my truck have xm?

So I have a 2004 envoy SLT 4.2l. I really need the aux jack and I am looking at adding one. I saw this "how too..." in the articles section. GMTNation - $3.00 Aux input via XM interface But I'm not sure if I have xm. I know I have thumbed through the "sources" and all I have a (2) FM and (1) AM but XM never pops up. Does this mean I don't have XM radio? If not, what would be my options to get the AUX installed in my truck?

Welcome! A quicker test is if you have the roof antenna for XM or not.

I predict you'll be much happier getting an aftermarket head unit that can also support Bluetooth hand-frees phone connections. Then you don't even need an aux jack, assuming you have a phone that can beam audio to the Bluetooth connection. Cables are so quaint.

Thanks, I was over on Trailvoy and everyone said that this was the place to be.....so here I am!

I have the antenna on the roof. Its located on the drivers side and looks like a shark fin. I thought that might have been for the OnStar system. But I think you may be right. The after-market just might be the way to go. Hmmmmm:yes: Although, I could keep it cheap with cable.

Shark fin is indeed the OnStar antenna, which used Verizon cell technology and there's also a GPS antenna in there. The XM is a flat hockey puck sort of thing. If you only have one, you don't have XM.

Aftermarket head units can really give you great performance and features. Make sure to visit our Audio and Entertainment forum where you'll learn about the adapter you'll need to install anything aftermarket.

Thanks Roadie

I think the 06+ look more like a shark fin. Instead of just a little round thing poking up, it's actually like a fin. I believe the XM receiver is contained within the base on these models as I've never seen a puck on those even when they have an active XM sub that I've personally enjoyed while in their vehicle.

You might check the "U" codes in the RPO glovebox list. See what radio option you have and if it includes XM.... not to discredit the aftermarket HU advice. XM wasn't an option on my 03 Envoy
