I have been on this site for a while and I have loved being here. I more recently started to work on my 1995 325i that is in my garage, and found a couple of other forums that have helped me with that. I guess I have become accustomed to the nice natured, helpful, happy and kind people that frequent GMT NATION.

People over on a particular BMW forum are jerk-ish/prick-ish. Think stereotypical BMW owner... Mind you it is not everyone, but there is enough that it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. SO... Thank you GMT Nation for forever ruining my online forum experience by being the best community I have ever been a part of.

Yea the community here is by far the best in its class for enthusiasts like us. Second to this has got to be rangerovers.net. Those guys really make feel well at home. I had a mid year 95 range rover sport with a few issues and they helped me out with thing I didn't even think where wrong with the truck when I bought it back in 2002. Then I went ahead and bought a 2006 range rover sport right out of the dealer. There was so many recalls and issues with it I just had to let it go after just 2 yrs. That's when I decide to make the switch over to a gm vehicle and I'm sure glad I did. I did drive and work out off an chevy astro van for years. God those thing can sure take a beating.

I have also learned through my experience with buying car/trucks never to buy the newest body style or model of the year. I wait till its the 2nd or third year out so this way most of the issues it did have the first year or 2 are corrected. Just my :twocents:

We had an Astro growing up and it sure did take a beating. The thing that finally did it in was the retaining wall of our garage... Did not quite take that too well. Crushed about 1/2 the van.

The BMW sure has its issues(like a bazillion), but its so pretty and so much fun to drive.

Just landing my first after college job has had me thinking about that. Its on my to do list !

Hey, we get that. Life priorities, but every little bit helps.

But yeah, we try to be better than the "do a search" crowd. Good forums actually help the brand. One of the reasons I have a Yamaha snowmobile instead of SkiDoo!

GMTNation, FTW!

I have frequented a few Land Rover forums too, and I notice there are two kinds of automotive forums. One is populated by people with nothing but problems and are desperately searching for solutions. They aren't drivers of their vehicles, they are just operators. They want to get from point A to point B, and find solutions to the problems, many of which they have caused themselves. Their forums are easy to recognize - it is just complaint after problem after complaint.

The other type of forum is populated by enthusiasts. It is easy to find those forums because they are not full of problems looking for solutions, they are full of solutions. They are filled by those who LOVE what they drive and love to find new ways to keep them in good condition and personalize them to their liking. They are also filled with the friendly, knowledgeable and helpful ENTHUSIASTS who will nevertheless be forthright in their expert knowledge. They don't put nitrogen in their tires and they don't overly extol the virtues of things like boutique oils and MLM products unless there is scientific or technical proof something is better.

I found one Land Rover forum to be the latter category. Aside from the fact that I am not too sure I would want to marry the Service Manager's daughter, it makes me want to own one.

Guess which one this forum is?

Gmt nation is a great place to be, I knew right away it was different than other forums, I have been a member of the following: import Atlanta, LS tech, Mazda trucking, oddy club, trailvoy, Mercedes forum, bmw club, tbss owners. All of them are consumed by people who live drama, enjoy fighting, calling each other names, making fun of people who lack knowledge about their vehicle, and more. It is refreshing to have mutual respect with the members of this site!

We have had a few asshats come through but they quickly learn they do not fit in here.

GMTNation ftw!

And guys, even if you can't afford a membership anything helps, it's super easy just sign into your PayPal and make a donation. Even if you can afford only $1 it would be appreciated! There is strength in numbers, if everyone gives a little it adds up to be a lot!

Merry Christmas! :tiphat:

What about the moderators? :2thumbsup:

I work with several forums but my personal ride is a gmt360. You would be surprised how poor some groups run. My favorite forum...I have this serious problem, what do I do. and 40 replies of "Hey me to"
