HVAC control panel

Ok, my envoys ac control panel has some burned out bulbs. I know how to remove it, I think I know how to get inside the panel, I just cannot figure out how to get the sliders off. If there's anyone here that's better at this than me I sure would appreciate some advice.

The slider levers pull straight off. Be careful, the paint can scratch behind them and then light will shine through making it ugly.

Since the sliders have some years on them I would just replace the head unit altogether with a new one. It might not be worth the trouble to procure the bulbs and attempt a solder job. There is also more that wears out on these units besides the bulbs.
