Posted this on SaabCentral but I thought it might be useful/interesting to people on here too.

Thought this would be interesting and informative for owners and potential buyers. So I'm curious, for those of us who have had our 9-7X's for a long time what all have you had to do?

My 9-7X was delivered in 7/06 so it was under bumper to bumper until 7/10

Here is my service history

8,000 miles (02/07): Front stabilizer bar (under warranty)

12,500 miles (04/07): Gas cap replaced was causing check engine light to come on (under warranty)

19,200 miles (1/08): Electrical issue, both tail lights not working (under warranty)

29,000 miles (04/09): Two new tires: Dunlop SP Sport 5000

33,600 miles (08/09): Hood release will not close (under warranty)

38,000 miles (01/10): Serpentine belt (under warranty)

42,000 miles (03/10): Two new tires: Dunlop SP Sport 5000

44,900 miles (05/10): Left front wheel bearing (under warranty)

48,000 miles (07/10): Replaced front brakes and rotors

53,500 miles (09/10): Rust warranty claim: dealership replaced hood and refinished seams of doors car was in shop for about five weeks. (under warranty) Also had diff fluid changed while car was in shop

68,000 miles (06/11): Muffler fell off (cost over $900 to replace )

69,000 miles (07/11): Four new tires: Falken Ziex, never buying those crappy Dunlops again...

73,500 miles (10/11): Thermostat failed (~$180ish repair at dealer)

79,000 miles (01/12): Right air suspension bag failed. Also discovered air suspension hose was bad (~$700 when all was said and done)

83,000 miles (03/12): Headlights not working changed large fuse had to buy from dealer ($30)

86,000 miles (07/12): Replaced rear brakes and rotors

89,000 miles (09/12): Liftgate would not open, internal mechanism rusted out. No parts available so dealer soaked mechanism in trans fluid to lube. Still working to this day ($100)

91,000 miles (11/12): Serpentine belt (2nd time)

94,000 miles (01/13): Fuel level sending unit (partially paid for by GM/Saab)

101,000 miles (03/13): Changed diff fluid

105,000 miles (07/13): Replaced front brakes and rotors

107,000 miles (10/13): Left front wheel bearing (again!!!) ($500)

109,000 miles (12/13): Right front wheel bearing (aren't I lucky ) ($500)

Also I have had to replace the rear SAAB emblem 3 times The front one is still original though

Oil changes with Mobil 1 every 6-7000 miles

1 battery replacement in October 2011

Just some final follow up comments. It has never failed to start or left me stranded. This morning in 5 degree Michigan weather it started right up with no issues. In the next few months I plan to replace the spark plugs and tires. Nearly all of the repairs that I have ever had done were done at Saab of Troy in Troy, MI. I have been very pleased with their service. Please feel free to comment or ask any questions.

In case you are curious, I plan to keep the 9-7X probably another 2-3 years and I will probably get either a Tahoe or Grand Cherokee after that. Overall pretty satisfied with the 9-7X. Unfortunately there have been a few more things to repair than I would have liked but still I am happy with it.

If I had to do it all over again I probably would still buy a 4.2i. The gas mileage at 15mpg is abysmal but the engine has been near flawless, with only the thermostat being replaced after 110,00 miles.

Thanks for this, very informative. My 2007 with 64,000 miles has been excellent. The best vehicle I have ever owned, and I have owned many - both imports and domestic. Besides preventative maintenance such as tires, brakes, battery, oil etc the only repair I have done so far is the driver wheel bearing.

These trucks were awesome!!

Indeed informative. Since I bought mine with 87k miles on it, all I have is what I've done since.

~92k - New tires, all around. It came from the dealership with shaky-looking tires.
~97k - New dim headlights. Nothing fancy, it's like the first step up from absolute basic, for whatever reason people still flash their brights at me.
~102k - Just did this. Front pads/rotors.
Change oil as indicated by OLM.

I know I'm overdue for the 100k services, but while I am "gifted" with a week layoff every Christmas-time, the excess of time makes a lack of money (along with Christmas). Otherwise, it's work work work work no time for play, I'll get all that done very soon.

Also, mine's an '05 and still has the original batter :lipsrsealed: talk about pushing it!

Update: 112,500 miles front differential is leaking
