A co worker of mine is wanting me to repair a fubared maaco paint job on his old truck. After a test patch with some polish it gave the man hope and wants to just paint over the places that have peeled away. The problem is we can not find a rattle can of his color anywhere. His paint code is dt6663 dark chestnut petticoat. Neither of us are expecting miracles, but it would look better than the bare metal that's showing up in spots. Any help finding some paint would be greatly appreciated

If you have a KOI automotive paint store, or something similar you just give them the code and they mix a rattle can for ya. Like $20 or something. I used it on one of my co workers cars. Turned out great.

Also google it, there is a couple web store that specialize in that.

I found some on google but again i dont know about them. Ive got a tasco and a sherwin williams locally.

So automotivetouchup is a reputable place? That's good because they're the easiest I've found online, I'm getting him to talk to our local autobody supply store tomorrow

A few reviews from different places.

I did find a few bad reviews, one was with the color not being a perfect match, another was about the nozzle clogging on the paint can. Another complaint seems to be the time it takes to get the stuff. I would assume that this stuff is not just in stock on a shelf for every vehicle, so I would assume most orders are custom done. As for paint not matching, take into account UV light, weather and other environmental hazards put on vehicles and I would say that a 100% perfect match may not always happen.

I was just texting a friend who was looking at buying some to color match some grille inserts, he said the paint match was perfect and he got it in about a week.

Excellent to hear. If we cant source the paint here locally well go that route. The paint on this mans truck is shot to hell. I hit it with a little rubbing compound and some polish just for s and gs, it didnt look too bad, all he wants to do is make it look like its not falling apart (its a dodge, theyre always falling apart) to get another year out of it.thanks for all the help guys.

Automotivetouchup.com was great to me. I got paint for my TB and my wife's Sebring.

Both spray cans, both a great match.

For reference, I did my mirror covers with their spray paint. Bordeaux Red Metallic.

My local NAPA sells paint and body supplies. They will put any color you want in a rattle can (or sell you the liquid to put in your own gun).

Find a paint and body supplier, shouldn't be too hard.
