Oil by spark plug

I was changing a coil pack today, and noticed some oil by the spark plug on cylinder 4. I check the other plugs, and noticed a bit by some of the others as well. Looks to be coming from just under the black plastic, is this the valve cover?

What would be the cause of this? Am I looking at a valve cover gasket? How big a job is that?

Have you confirmed the torque on your valve cover bolts? They may have just backed out a little bit. I don't remember the exact torque specs, but I want to say 89 INCH pounds. Not very much at all.

Had the same thing recently, found the coil gaskets flattened out and am going to change valve cover ones too. RockAuto had best price for my area.

From what I recall when I nearly flipped out (changing my plugs last January)... it's nothing to worry about.

When I had oil in the plug shaft on my wife's Honda, I ended up needing to replace the valve cover gasket. If it comes down to it, don't be afraid, it's not that hard of a job.

Thank everyone. I'll just leave it for now. Maybe check check the valve cover bolts, and check the plug well again in a year or so.

Remember - 89 inch pounds! That's the exact torque specified for the valve cover. NOT foot pounds!
