bought a 2002 LTZ 4x4 with 105K with a bad transmission, light rust under hood and rear deck a few dents here and there not bad.well I had a buddy who works at a chevy dealer rebuild the tranny, while I was waiting I went over the bodywork only planned on spotting it in but you know how it goes, now we have red and gold 2-tone,looks better I think. pics in my albums here,ok got the tranny back installed it ok cool,oh yea while I was there I replaced both tranny lines and p/s lines, ok we are ready for a test ride...service 4x4 light on,so I want to thank all GMT nation members who shared their issues with the same issues and replaced the TCCM and nice 2wd awd 4h 4L thanks again I would not have found that control module that was toast. truck runs and drives nice, then we get the service engine light on, so I hooked it up to my scanner and got the p0014 code so back here I come looking through pages of info on p0014 great! so I change the oil and it was tar so I flushed oil with 1/2 can seafoam in oil and rest in the booster vaccum line and burned it out after 2 oil and filter changes I filled it with 5-30 mobil1 and a fram ultra filter for now ,I will order a few gm filters soon, now i replaced cam accuator solenoid and cam sensor, the one I took out was not to gunked up and looks to have been replaced ,I did use gm parts. ok drive 20 miles and light is back on,now I read all p0014 posts over and try the thermostat and Coolant temp. sensor only could get a stant 192 I think ,light came back on in about 15 miles same code p0014 I drove with scanner connected and monitored water temp,ok it is 10 deg here but temps were at 189 192 and every now and then 194 where I read it need to be to come off rich burn, the truck runs strong I drove it on the highway at 65 cc on and reset ave. mpg and drove 15 or so miles and it was at 19.3 mpg which leads me to believe im getting close, and it cant be too far off with the exhaust cam angle, I checked the intake manifold bolts all tight, I have an appointment at 1 to have the puter re learned and diag at gm dealer ,hope they don't charge me 105 bucks to turn the light off like a lot of stealers do the first trip,I also notice a lot of yellowish sludge inside oil cap, breather tube is ok and oil is fine coolant stays full I have 7 days left to repair it to get through inspection,I love a good repair challenge but this is getting old hehe:eek:

thanks for the reply, my main concern is getting that code gone for now so I can pass emission ins.

Welcome! I'm not experienced on the P0014 issues, but I do have one big piece of advice. If the previous owner neglected the engine oil and tyranny, they probably ignored the transfer case. The fluid change interval is a surprisingly short 50k.

will change all diff with syn and TC with GM ,thanks Roadie I have already have you o n my "know whats going on list" after reading your posts thanks

Yes, it is important to oppress your drivetrain! Start by increasing the horsepower taxes demanded of it! :rotfl:

ok made the 10 day inspection deadline and P0014 code gone, every thing I replaced helped fuel mileage last parts cleared SES light, some items were replaced for incorrect running temp. like fan,t-stat and coolant temp sensor,on the P0014 code we started with exhaust cam solenoid, cam sensor, solenoid connector, didnt see a lot of dirty or sludge on solenoid screens and look like it had been replaced.changed it anyway, over the course of repairs we also changed all fluids ,plugs, filters,Mobil 1 in engine and mobil syn 75-90 in diffs ,GM sure track in transfer case I just bought this TB a month ago with bad tranny so it is new to me.still SES light would return after 10-35 miles P0014 code every time, last thing I changed was crank position sensor and connector light went off and passed NYS inspection with all ready scan,I drove the tb between parts changes and monitored fuel mileage we started at 12.7 MPG econ, average taking the same route every test ,,about 40 miles resetting indicator every time 1/2 45-55 mph highway winding with hills and 70 mph highway return last mileage was 18.9 ave. while on 70 mph highway with CC on instant mpg was 21-24 for about 10 miles, very happy so far and will send out pcm for fuel economy flash and dual exhaust in the spring, I must say im impressed with the power the 4,2 has you punch it from a roll and hang on right to 6000 rpm and steady smooth shifts,I also put heavy duty clutch plates in tranny with extra disc ,:wootwoot:
