Does anybody know if you can custom program a BCM.
I am having issues converting my 2008 TB LT from 4WD to 2WD. The TCCM cannot be disconnected without upsetting the BCM. 4WD BCM programming is looking for TCCM. I cannot plug in a BCM from a 2WD truck because the VIN information is in the BCM and will upset the truck. Does anybody know how to change the VIN on a BCM?

Tks

Afraid that may be a trip to the dealer.

My good friend is a tech at a GM dealer. He explained when you program a new BCM it is loaded via the VIN. He does not believe you can alter an existing BCM that has been programmed. The tech 2 does not have any opitions to make changes. If anyone has any ideas please let me know

You could always leave in the TCCM and front axle actuator, and hide the connected-up encoder motor somewhere to fool the TCCM into thinking it really controlled something. Then the light should stay off.

Roadie I agree with you I and was thinking of leaving all the 4WD components pluged in but I may have a problem with the 2 speed (VSS) that will missing when the t case is out. Unless I remove the VSS sensors from the t case and pluged them into wiring harness.

Thank you all for your input.

codes thrown by missing VSS sensors should be able to be tuned out via hptuners

one of them should plug into the tailshaft housing of a 2wd tranny though

There are 3 VSS sensors on 4WD TB LT. 2 for the 4WD T case. I have to look into HP tuners
