Having just swapped out my rear axle, I am stuck on reassembly... I am using the same rotors/calipers/brake pads on the new axle, however I cannot get the caliper to compress to pop back in place. I tried opening the bleeder until fluid was running out of the line, but still cannot get the caliper to compress. Is there some kind of check-valve or something I'm missing?

There really shouldn't be any resistance to compressing the piston, especially with the bleeder open. It must be jammed for some reason. You are using a c-clamp? You didn't get compress it on one side and get it cock-eyed in the caliper? I always clean off the boots before compressing so I don't get dirt or crap compressed into the caliper alongside the piston.

That was it! I just had to get the C-clamp more squared up, and the calipers slipped right in. Thanks! Off for a test-drive now...
