Rear Stabilizer links

I have a 2009 SLT Envoy. A few years ago I heard a knock from the rear. The rear link were loose and I tried to tighten them with no luck so I cut them off and replaced them. Well the buggers loose again on the body side of the link - the stabilizer bar side seem tight. I tried to tighten them but can't get a wrench on the link side to stop it from turning when I tighten the nut on the other side. I've seen some posts where some guys just say to remove them since they don't do too much anyway. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to hold them from turning? I did try vice grips but there isn't enough room to grab the shaft and a box end wrench doesn't seem to work either. Also - there is no hole for an allen key on the nut side either. Any suggestions - I hate the clunking! Thanks for any ideas!

I've had similar situations. Sometimes I take an older open end wrench and thin down the thickness using a belt sander. This obviously weakens the wrench, so you don't want to use it in high stress situations, but for holding something when space is tight it works OK.

And I wouldn't do that with your most expensive Snap On wrench.
