Hello,

I purchased a 2007 Trailblazer LT on a whim. Nice truck but it does not have side impact atr bags like my 2008 TB LT did.
Heres the question can I add the side air bags to the 2007 truck ?

This sounds like something that might be a dealership-level question. There's a bunch of other things one would expect to be "plug-n-play," but they aren't. Such as adding in the heated seats.

My educated guess is they would say no way. The harness and probably numbers of sensors is different, plus the very expensive control module, and the lawsuit potential from an inadvertent or suppressed deployment would not be worth any amount of money the dealer could make off the mod. If it's a deal-breaker, see if you can break the deal. As you now know, whims can cost ya.

Front bags and side impact bags use impact sensors in different locations. 2 sensors at the front (behind the impact bar) tell the SRS module when there is a frontal impact of sufficient force to deploy the front bags. The side impact bags use a sensor located at the bottom of each front door to let the SRS module know where there is a side impact of sufficient force to deploy the side bags. You can not simply piggy back 2 more airbags as they would probably not deploy in a side impact accident unless it was so extreme it tripped the front sensors.

In order to add them, you would need a harness that supports all 4 bags, both front door harnesses, both front door impact sensors, the correct SRS module and a dealership willing to encode your VIN to the SRS module. The side impact bag wiring is located in the harness that goes to the doors, power seats, and it terminates at the rear (under seat) fuse panel.
