Sold my Trailblazer

Well we have sold our beloved Trailblazer. Wife was no longer driving it to work, and we really needed a truck with 4wd. I was tired of going to Home Depot and having to spend half the next day cleaning the interior. Plus the wet stuff from the boat being thrown in the back makes the SUV stink. Again, requires a half day of cleaning to get rid of the stench. We have loved our TB and it has given us absolutely NO trouble since we bought it. Still looked like new. Tried to sell it for several months and not even one phone call or email. Went from $11000 all the way down to $7995 and when CarMax offered me $7500 we sold it to them.

So while we were trying to sell ours we looked at dozens of trucks. Mostly GMC or Chevy, but for some reason they think they are gold. Even though the same trucks are around for months, they refuse to deal. I drove a nice Dodge crew cab 4x4 hemi but they wanted $1000 OVER clean NADA retail. No thanks. We finally found an extended cab Sierra Denali for a very good price. When we got there it was gone. Damnit. They had a Nissan Titan crew cab lwb long bed with the "big tow" package. I gotta tell you, it is nice. HUGE back seat for my daughter(which the Denali did NOT have), and talk about feeling powerful. Far better than the 5.3 in a 1500 GM. That was why I was looking at the Denali because of the 6.0 option. Well we bought the Titan. I hope I didn't make a mistake. I have been a GM guy for a long time. This is the first time since the 80s that I have not had a GM in my stable. Well that is if you don't count the Saab and the boat with the GM engine.

So I am going to be around, and probably have another GMT soon, but for now I have the Titan to play with.

Good luck with it! May you find a support forum with a community like ours, and NOT owned by Vertical Scope or Internet Brands.

Well that was a complete disaster. I asked the dealer why they only painted one side of the bumper and he said it was because of some scratches. I came home that night, before we took delivery, and found a picture from last month on Craigslist of the truck I was about to buy and the whole front right was smashed. Bad enough to push the fender into the windshield and bend the door.

So I wont be buying that truck. I am going to look at some Silverados tomorrow.

What a roller coaster! Lol
Can't you throw the wet stuff in the boat on the way back? Just curious. There's ways around this.

Also, I saw a short bed Titan crawling down the path to Saint Mary's lake near Alice CO, and I must say it was quite impressive for being stock. The mpgs and price scared me off from looking for one a second time. V8 Tundra's are quite capable too. I have noticed GM pickups listed for higher than I would ever pay around here too.

After reading everything you have been through, I am not looking forward to start vehicle shopping for the wife. It has been 5 years since I bought my TB and it took me about a month of searching, test driving, and comparing online until I found a TB with the right price and mileage. Good luck with the search.

The problem isn't so much the equipment, but the wet people at the end of a day of boating, it is also the covers while we are out on the boat. They are usually wet when I pull them off in the mornings. They sit all day in the truck and it stinks. Then going to Home Depot for a load of mulch is an all day affair and picking it up is the easy part. It is the clean up after the fact. It takes me hours to get all the mulch that has falling between seats and side panels. So an SUV worked great for the wife to drive and double as a tow vehicle, but now that we don't need my wife to drive it, a truck makes more sense. Oh and don't forget the 4x4, which my TB didn't have. I need that so I can start parking the boat behind my house again and it is sugar sand back there and my Jeep is too light to push the boat I have now through the sand, even in 4 low with lockers.

I couldn't care less about gas mileage. We only drive it on weekends, mostly to tow the boat, so it probably wont be any worse than the TB was for towing. I have found a few private owners selling them reasonably, so I am on my way out to go look at a few now. Of course my budget is half from a private seller because it is such a pain to get the loan to pay a private individual.

So I am probably looking at around $7000. Gonna see what's out there. My big concern is a full size Chevy with 4 doors that is 4x4 with a 5.3 is going to be a bit under powered.

OK found a super clean trade in at a local Chrysler dealer. Its an 03 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with an 8.1L. Its not a 4x4, but its only got 77k on the clock and it is in mint condition for $10900. Now I am so glad that Titan fell through!! I cant believe I found such a clean car for so cheap. They are usually asking at least $1000 over clean retail for a truck like this, and most have at least double that mileage. I am very happy.

Well contrary to the other dealer where the Titan was, this dealer is a class act. They still have the truck, it just came in yesterday and they haven't put it through the shop yet. Got a call about an hour ago and they are putting new tires on it and doing an alignment, plus a complete detail(which it really doesn't need except for a couple small spots in the carpet). They even gave me a loaner car to drive until mine is done. I even have free car washes, 2 free oil changes a year, and a 3 year 36k warranty all for less than the Titan was going to cost me total OTD!

So I will have pics when I pick it up.

Here is a quick snap I got at the dealership. More to come in a new thread.

Congrats! That is a beast gas tow vehicle. Too bad it's 2WD but I would surely take it myself regardless...may save you a MPG or so.....you will need it. Nice color as well.....heck of a score.
