Speedo acting weird. It is working but starts in different positions. What do you think? Stepper motor?

Sounds like a bad stepper motor to me. Any other gauges acting up?

When you change that motor out, you might as well do all 6 at the same time, since you'll have the cluster already opened up. It would be a royal pain if you change out the speedo one, and then one (or more) of the other ones decide they want to die on you next week.

Agreed - stepper motors are not that expensive so do them all at once. Also, if you have any gauge lights out or want LEDs, replace those at the same time.

I'll tell you the cheap way to reset that. Insert the key into the ignition. Do not start it but place in the acc position. Place truck in reverse. Turn the key like if you want to start it. Wait. Keep repeating till the needle goes down to zero or won't go down any further. It will take a few minutes as the needle will only go down in small increments.

I agree, take it from someone who didn't...your just going to be pulling the cluster out again at some point. It's not a difficult job, and if you have access to good soldering/desoldering tools it's very easy. :)
