I know this sounds kind of vague. When slowing down( braking) I'm getting a squeaking noise. Not metal on metal squeak, but a rubber type of squeak. Could this be the struts or ball joints. Neither have been replaced, but though someone could point me in a direction to look in. Thanks for any help. I'm a novice, but with this forums help I've been able to replace the fan clutch, motor mounts, water pump etc.. So I'm learning.

try to rock your truck side to side while it is parked and then push it up and down on the front and back and see what makes it squeak more. it could be a bushing or something that is on its way out. I've never heard of a ball joint squeaking.

Does it stop squeaking after you let off the brakes while still moving forward or no?

Ball joints will squeak too. Loudly. Could be a bit of pad chatter from the back side. Not metal to metal but on the shim side. Little anti squeal or anti seize would take care of it. If it's the problem. As said though try to replicate it by bouncing your suspension and rocking it side to side turn your wheels back and forth. Ball joint will usually squeak from turning wheels as well as up and down motion.

Quite a few places it could come from. Control arms, strut plates, ball joints, sway bar links/bushings. Might help to have a friends ears too, and to help listen for you while rocking/bouncing.
