Trailblazer Radiator replacement

So I realized my radiator was leaking at the bottom where the tank meets the aluminum core. Did some research and it seems some folks have removed it without taking the fan clutch/shroud and others have removed with without taking the shroud out. It looks pretty tight, and I really didn't want to remove my fan clutch (I replaced the water pump and clutch a couple years back). After I removed the grille, upper crossbar, hood latch, and drained the radiator, I decided to take the shroud and clutch out. Luckily it came off pretty easy (I jammed a 13mm wrench on one of the pulley bolts and used a crescent wrench with a dead blow hammer). Plus, I put anti-seize on the threads when I replaced the clutch the last time. So now I have to wait for the radiator to come from Advance since none of the local ones had them in stock. Once it comes in I'll pull the trans lines and remove the radiator. Then hopefully everything will go back together...

I received the radiator from Advance Auto- it was the Carquest branded on. Dimensions are spot on with the OEM, and the trans cooler adapters were already screwed in. I came packed nicely- well protected and was strapped to an inner box which protected the cap and upper/lower hose openings.

Everything went back in easily. Getting the OEM trans line clips were a bit of a pain, there was crud and corrosion that I had to pick out in order to get the clips out. Back on the road, no leaks, hope this replacement one lasts at least as long as the original! :2thumbsup:
