Dad's Silverado over revving?

The TB is at the shop for exhaust work so I'm borrowing my father's 2500 HD.

Shouldn't the RPM's be lower at this speed, cruising on a flat highway?

Just checked the window sticker. It has 4.10 rear axle ratio.

Not sure if that matters, the revs still seem too high.

Try manually shifting through the gears to be sure it goes into 4th. Also check that the TCC is working. Otherwise, that looks normal to me. Similar to my 4.10 Avalanche with 6.0L

There's no door jam sticker, and I think that's just wrong...

But there's this sticker in the glove box.

= Lots of money for fuel

Ran a few errand and took it to work for 2 days.

Easy driving and never exceeding the speed limit.

Fuel economy represents 100 miles of mixed driving. (Mostly highway at 64 mph.)

Yep, one of the reasons I got rid of my Avalanche. And I got 6 MPG while towing.

I've come to realize that it's a real work truck. Not meant for use as a daily.

My father bought it new after he retired and then got involved in humanitarian work, He would travel with a team of volunteers to anyplace there was a big hurricane or flood or tornado. They worked to help those people recover.

For the last 10 years the truck was used to get to Dr.'s appointments, and as a loner if one of my sisters had their daily in the shop. And also Dad delivered meals from the food pantry to a group of shut-ins.

A couple weeks ago I had to take his keys away. He is just too old to drive now. It was a sad moment.

It's pretty much my truck now. I haven't paid my Mom and taken the title, but maybe I should.

For now, I'll take over the maintenance, and it will continue on as a family loner.

You could give it a tune up and go over things to make sure it's in good shape. The 2500 is definitely a work truck. Nowadays people go for the diesel in these as the MPG is a lot better.

It is sad when we have to take the keys away. It's even sadder when we realize it will eventually happen to all of us.
