Hello to all,
I have searched the Forums on this site, which is awesome, but can't find an answer to these questions specifically.
I have a few questions about installing an Axxess GMOS-01 in my 2006 Trailblazer. I am installing a Pioneer DEH-6600BT HU. The truck is the Non-Bose, unamplified with Onstar. I am not currently installing an Amp. Just need the stock speakers to work and retain chimes, alerts, etcetera. Unfortunately my electrical system was hacked up by the previous owner and I am reaping the rewards
. I have repaired the factory harnesses that were cut out to install the Pioneer HU that came with the vehicle (that did not work properly anyways). The idea being I could wire in the GMOS-01 and have it plug in per the instructions and provided harnesses and have it be a "simple" install, yeah right! The new stereo is not turning on at all.
The 16 pin harness that plugs into the GMOS-01 has 2 red wires that both say 12v/switched and are the same shade of red. The instructions say "Connect the Red wire (singular) to the ignition wire of the aftermarket radio." Called tech support and they said to connect them both. My questions are as follows:
1) Should I use a switched 12v from another source and connect it to both red wires from the 16 pin harness as well as the red wire from the radio harness? If not how should I wire it up? It is my understanding that with the new interface I do Not have to source a switched 12v supply. ( I am leaning towards this unit being defective )
2) There are 2 orange wires coming from the factory wiring harness going to the original factory harnesses. One is the constant power for the radio. The second is a noticeably smaller gauge, yet same color, wire that I can't find a home for. Where does this wire need to go? Is it a serial data bus wire or a dash illumination wire?
I am also trying to get the factory door locks / key FOBs to work again after removing the most poorly executed alarm system I have ever seen installed. Any info on the passlock / factory anti-theft system would be quite useful and much appreciated. I can't program the FOBs because I think the integrity of this system has been compromised. Not sure if there was a GM interface that might have been removed.
Thanks in advance for any help

) going to the HU and I have no power at the radio I think I either sent 24v into the unit and blew the fuse on the back of it, no other fuses are blown, or the GMOS-01 I have is a dud! Can you think of any other possibilities? I'm kind of sick of opening the dash up and will arm myself with your collective knowledge! My Wife is all like I thought installing a radio is easy, hahaha, It's supposed to be, well it used to be. I miss my 84 Cutlass Supreme!
